Bathtub Heaters
If your jetted whirlpool bath tub did not come with a bath tub heater, it is easy to add one to keep
your bath water at a constant temperature. The heater heats the bath water when your bathtub
pump is running and the water temperature is below the set temperature. The heater
automatically turns off once the set water temperature is reached or you turn your bath tub
pump off.
What type of bath tub heater you need depends on the configuration of your bath tub’s plumbing
and whether you need 110 or 220 volts. Spa Guts carries bath tub heaters to fit all styles of
whirlpool bath tubs.
Bath tub heaters come in two basic configurations: T-style and inline. The one you need depends
on how the plumbing around your bath tub pump is laid out. As all whirlpool bath tubs were
designed with a bath heater as an option, it is usually obvious just from looking at the layout to
figure out which style bath heater was intended.
Inline bath tub heaters may be positioned upstream from the pump (“vacuum side”) or
downstream (“pressure side”), requiring different configurations of the inline bath tub heater.
Most bath tubs requiring inline heaters use 1.5” plumbing, but a few Jacuzzi(RG) brand bath tubs
use 2.0” plumbing.
Most whirlpool bath tubs are wired for 110 volts, but a few extra-large bath tubs are wired for
220 volts.
