AO Smith Spa Motor with High Performance Pump - 48 Frame
We offer the 48-frame, 2-speed, AO Smith Electric Spa Motor with a high
performance pump in a range of sizes from 1.0 horsepower to 4.0
horsepower. We also offer the 56-frame, 2-speed, AO Smith Electric Spa
Motor with a high performance pump in a range of sizes from 2.0
horsepower to 5.0 horsepower, see 56-frame pump page.
Our dual speed motors can also be wired to operate in single speed.
You may add a color coded J&J mini 4ft cord which is typically the industry
standard motor cord or if your existing spa
controller does not accept the J&J mini plug type you can wire your
existing cord to the motor for a quick and easy retrofit. Contact us if
a 4-prong male amp plug is needed for the motor cord.
Pumps with 48-frame motors can be ordered with side or center discharge.
Center-discharge pumps come standard with screw on unions which glue
directly onto 1.5 inch plumbing. Adaptors are provided for the center
discharge pumps when 2.0 inch plumbing is requested. Side-discharge
pumps come standard with screw on unions which glue directly onto 2.0
inch plumbing. Reducer bushings are provided for the side discharge
pumps when 1.5 inch plumbing is requested.

After the unions are glued onto the spas existing plumbing, the unions
screw directly onto the pump suction and return fittings and seal
tightly with included o-rings.
NOTE: 1 HP motors are available in 110V, and 1.5 HP motors are available
in either 110V or 220V. Motors larger than 1.5 HP must be 220V.
AO Smith is one of the largest manufacturers of spa motors in the world
and in our opinion is the very best money can buy. We offer brand new
pumps and motor, also the best in the industry.
Pumps with 48-frame motors carry a 3-year limited warranty on the pump
and 1 year on the motor.
Keep in mind to not over power your spa by going from a 48-frame motor
to a 56-frame motor. See water flow chart and amp rating
for a 48-frame motor.
Is Your Pump Above the Water Line?
If you need to install your spa pump near or above the waterline - as is
common for in-ground spas - you will need a pump pot.
The pump pot prevents water from draining back
into the spa when the motor is turned off
