385. Support: Water leaking from heater.

HEATER LEAKING WATER: - If water is leaking from the heater element terminals inside the controller box or electrical box, shut down power to the spa right away, an fix the leak (completely drain the spa and plumbing if the repair cannot be done soon). The water leak can get worst and spray water onto other electrical components inside the controller box or other spa components, and will cause short circuits and damages. This will cause major problems. Check to see if water is leaking from the top of the heater element terminals where the epoxy is. If so, the epoxy may be broken. This is most likely caused by improper installation (not using a 1/4 inch wrench to hold onto each heater terminal and keeping it from turning while tighten the top 3/8 inch heater terminal nut). Either purchase a new heater element (if replaceable), a new complete heater assembly or contact SpaGuts.com for warranty return options (if still within the warranty period). Damages from improper installation, neglect to repair or by poor water maintenance is not covered under warranty. - If water is leaking from the large heater jam nuts that holds the heater element onto the heater metal tube the problem may be due to a loose nut(s), the heater element rubber o-rings are installed incorrectly or not installed, the heater element rubber o-rings have gone bad, or the heater tube terminal holes are bad. Shut down power to the spa right away, an fix the leak (completely drain the spa and plumbing if the repair cannot be done soon). The water leak can get worst and spray water onto other electrical components inside the controller box or other spa components, and will cause short circuits and damages. This will cause major problems. Make sure to tighten down the large heater jam nuts with a wrench (not pliers). Make sure the heater element rubber o-rings are installed from the inside of the heater metal tube. It is also possible that the heater metal tube terminal holes are worn out (possibly a new heater assembly is needed). The heater metal tube may not be aligned properly or the hole is worn which can cause water to leak even with the o-ring installed. Either purchase a new heater element (if replaceable), a new complete heater assembly or contact SpaGuts.com for warranty return options (if still within the warranty period). Damages from improper installation, neglect to repair or by poor water maintenance is not covered under warranty. - If water is leaking from the heater metal flange on the end of the heater metal tube that connects to the pipes, try tightening up the heater split nut(s), snap-on nut(s) or uni-nut with an adjustable plumbing wrench. If water still leaks, shut down power to the spa right away, an fix the leak (completely drain the spa and plumbing if the repair cannot be done soon). The water leak can get worst and spray water onto other electrical components inside the controller box or other spa components, and will cause short circuits and damages. This will cause major problems. Make sure gasket(s) are installed in between the heater metal flanges and the heater tailpieces. If the gaskets are bad, replace them. If the heater split nut(s), snap-on nut(s) or uni-nut is bad, replace them. It is also possible that you may need a new heater assembly if the heater metal flanges have gone bad.
