Spa Heaters

If your spa heater has stopped working, the most likely cause is a problem with either your spa heater element or your spa controller (the heater is usually built into the spa controller)

If your original heater housing needs replacement, check out heater assemblies that we offer.

Checking Your Spa Heater Element

First, open up the heater and take a look at the heater element. If it has a broken or burnt-looking spot on it or in any other way doesn't look pretty similar to a new one, you probably just need a new heater element. Damaged heater elements are the most common spa problem. The damage comes from improper water chemistry. Fortunately, this is a relatively simple repair, and our universal spa heater element fits most spa heaters.

Checking Your Spa Controller

Unfortunately, if your heater element looks okay, you have to be an electrician to diagnose the problem, which is either going to be in the heater unit or in the heater controls. We can't diagnose it for you, but we can tell you that it will probably cost you, depending on where you live, around $60 to have someone diagnose it, and around $150 to repair it - if it's repairable. For not much more you can buy and install a brand-new SpaGuts spa controller, but if your spa equipment is more than 8 years old, you should consider replacing the entire spa pack.

Spa controllers typically last about 10 years and comprise most of the cost of a spa pack. A whole new spa pack is typically only $595 to $800, so you need to get at least a couple years' more life out of your old spa pump and blower to make it worth fixing the old controller. If your spa pack is over 8 years old, that's a bad bet. We recommend buying a whole new spa pack so you can enjoy years of trouble-free spa use. More about new spa packs.

Spa Guts Spa Heaters

Like most spa heater manufacturers, Spa Guts spa heaters are built into the spa controller. That's because, other than the easily replacable spa heater element, there's not much that can go wrong with a spa heater that is not caused by a problem with the spa controller. With no more than a few adjustments of your hot tub pack's plumbing, our replacement spa controller/heaters will fit your spa.

We carry both pneumatic (air-control) and electronic (digital) spa controller/heaters.
