Hi-Limit Sensor Installation on a SpaGuts CS-Series Electronic Controller. Hi-Flo and Canister Heaters: The hi-limit sensor probe needs to be installed under the metal cover plate of the heater tube or in the thermowell of the heater. Most stainless steel heaters have a thermal metal cover plate with a wing nut to hold the plate in place. Find a spot under the cover plate to install the hi-limit sensor. Make sure the hi-limit sensor probe is inserted all the way in without exposing any part of the sensor probe. Then tighten the wing nut to secure the hi-limit sensor under the thermal metal plate. Some heaters may have a built-in thermowell to slide in the hi-limit sensor. Tubular Low-Flo Heater: The heater includes a foam insulation and two cable ties. Install foam insulation on the heater metal tube. Insert the hi-limit sensor bulb fully in between foam insulation and heater metal tube, and use the two cable ties to secure the foam insulation in place making sure the hi-limit sensor probe is fully placed against the heater metal tube.
