823. Support: The VS Series Control System is coming on too much, and may not be normal.

If are experiencing the VS Series Control System (VS300, VS500, VS501, VS510, VS520) is coming on and/or running too often, and you think it may not be operating properly, please see below. Keep in mind that the water volume inside the heater metal housing is a lot less than the water volume inside the spa or hot tub. Less water volume means that the water will cool down faster. If an M7 system detects that the water temperature inside the heater is lower than the set temperature, the system will run the heat pump to circulate the water from the spa through the heater to determine if the water needs to be heated. This is called a water temperature check cycle. If the water does need to be heated, the pump will continue running with the heater activated for the heat cycle. In colder months and cooler night time, the water temperature will drop and allow the water temperature check cycle to run more often (depending on how low and how often the water temperature inside the heater has dropped). Note that this may be the Freeze Protection Mode that is activating. And if the water temperature drops below 45 degrees F, the ICE code will display on the topside panel. Please provide us with a log for the week. Go ahead and reset the spa for at least 5 minutes, and then turn it back on. Then log the time when the power was turned back on. Because that will be the Start Time for the Filter Cycle every 12 Hours. Customer to log the Mode Setting that the system is set for, and also the Filter Cycle setting. (Customer can decide when to reset the power for the time frame that the customer would like to monitor the spa.) When the System is not running properly, make a log of what is going on. 1) Log the time that you are experiencing the problem. 2) Check the topside panel display for at least 15 seconds and log down what is exactly displaying. Is it just the temperature displaying, is it flashing, and/or a code is displaying? A code can be a Mode or an Error Message that is displaying. Also check to see if any indicator light is lit up or flashing. Log it all down. 3) Check the water temperature that is displaying on the topside panel, check the Set Temperature on the topside panel, measure the actual water temperature with a digital thermometer, and measure the air temperature. Log it all down. 4) Check the Filter Cycle to see what cycle it is set at. See if it was the same cycle previously set at, and if it has changed. Log it down. 5) Log down exactly what the spa is actually doing on it's own. Is the jet pump(s) coming on, what speed, and for how long? Are other spa components coming on by themselves, and for how long? 6) Monitor the spa or hot tub for a week, and go through the above information every time you think the spa is not running properly. It may be possible that your provided log may show there is no problem, or there is a problem. Refer to the operations manual for the system to confirm. If it is not according to the operations and functions, then get back to us with your log for review and suggestions.
