256. Sales: What information is needed to order a spa controller? (Controller Information)

To configure a spa controller, you must verify that our Spaguts spa controller will fit in the cabinet space under the spa. The dimensions of our spa controllers is approximately 12 inch long x 10 inch high x 4 inch thick. The heater attached to the bottom of the controller is 15 inch long x 2 inch in diameter (Heater Hole Diameter is 2.25 inch). If you are going to install the controller in a different location, just verify that our controller will fit.

Our SpaGuts brand controller comes with a 5.5KW heater, cords for pump(s), blower, ozone, and light. And a topside control panel is also provided (air buttons for Pneumatic, and a digital topside keypad for the Electronic). We also have Low Flow Systems to replace your existing Lo Flo application.
Below are questions that will help to setup a replacement spa controller.

  1. Voltage to spa: 110V or 220V? (220V Must have 4-Wire: Line 1, Line 2, Neutral, Ground)

  2. Number Jet Pumps: 1, 2 or 3? Single or Dual Speed for each? Voltage and Amperage of each Pump(s)? (Verify the pump motor labels for the correct operation voltage and Amp rating to make sure we get the correct controller to handle your pumps)

  3. Circulation Pump: Is there is a small circulation pump? - If "YES", is the Small Circ Pump plumbed to the heater (check plumbing if it goes to the heater)? VERIFY to MAKE SURE it is a Small Circulation Pump. What size plumbing for the circ pump from the spa, and back to the spa? Is there a Reducer installed on the plumb right up to the Circ Pump connections? What is the Brand Name and Model of the Circ pimp? Voltage and Amp rating for the Circ Pump? NOTE that a circ pump is about 1/4 of the size of a Jet Pump. Because some customers may be confused that a Dual Speed Jet Pump is considered the circulation pump. (If there is a circulation pump that flows the through the heater, let us know if the original controller uses a Flow Switch or M7 style Sensors.) Spas with a Small Circulation Pump is recommended to be used with SpaGuts CY Series Controllers to avoid heating problems. Sending "Pictures" are also helpful for better recommendations.

  4. Is there an Air Blower? If so, what is the voltage and amperage? An air blower only has one pipe connection, either 1.5 inch or 2.0 inch. An Air Blower sounds like vacuum cleaner when turned on, and it makes eruptions of bubbles just like a boiling pot of water. (Note that Spas with Air Divertor Valves that creates champagne-like bubbles ONLY when the jet pumps are on means you don't have an air blower.)

  5. Is there an Ozone Unit? What is the dimension of the Ozonator? And what is the Voltage and Amp rating for the Ozonator? (Note that an Ozone unit only last about 4-5 years. If you have an Ozone unit that is more than 4-5 years old, we offer a discounted ozone unit when purchased together with a Spa controller). An Ozonator provides ozone gas that gets injected into the plumbing via 1/4" tubing to help kill diseases, algae and bacteria in the water, and reduces odors.

  6. Is there a Stereo or TV? If so, are they controlled from the Spa Topside Panel? Or they have their own controls?

  7. Lights: Is there only one 12V Light in the spa? Or are there multiple lights around the spa? If multiple lights, what kind of lighting are they (LED or Fiber Optics)? What is the Voltage and Amp rating for the Light? How many wires from the light to the Spa Controller Box?

  8. Original Heater Wattage: 4.0KW or 5.5KW?

  9. Heater Type: Is the existing heater a Straight Flo-Thru Hi-Flo Heater? Or is it a Tubular or Canister type Low-Flo Heater?

  1. Where is the heater located on the old controller box (bottom, back top)? And is the heater a Straight Flo-Thru type Heater? Or is the Heater a Low-Flo type with 3/4" or 1.0" hoses to it? What is the dimension of the heater (Length and Hole Diameter)? What size plumbing to the heater (0.75", 1.0", 1.5" or 2.0")? What is the wattage of the heater (4.0KW or 5.5KW)?

  2. Plumbing Size (Suction and Return): 1.5 inch or 2.0 inch? (Identify the size of the PVC plumbing lines- suction and return- They will be either 1.5 inch or 2..0 inch and both may not be the same. We provide new screw-on heater tailpieces with O-Ring gaskets which match the pipe size). The heater on the controller comes standard with 2.0 inch fittings. If 1.5 inch fittings are requested, a pair of 1.5 inch reducer bushing can be added to adapt to the 2.0 inch tailpieces. For fast and easy re-plumbing, we recommend the EZ install plumbing kit. 3. Original Topside Panel Dimensions and Shape? And the Open space where the original topside panel is located? Also verify the Topside Cable Length that is needed. And is there an Auxiliary Topside Panel?

The information that you provide above should help to select the best replacement spa controller kit. Keep in mind that a spa rated GFCI is required for safe operation. If you are ready to place an order, go to this link: https://www..spaguts.com/spa-packs/spa-controllers-kits
